Jean Denney: Romance and Tango for Violin
Jean Denney, Concertmaster
Jean will be performing the world premiere of a work by her daughter, Morgan Denney. Morgan is a composer and arranger who has written art music for many contexts including dance, film, theater, education, and concert settings. She enjoys experimenting with musical textures, psychology, and humor, and is “skilled at conveying raw energy in soundscape and composition form with beautiful lyricism” (The Musical Times, 2019). Her music has been performed globally, featured at the Midwest Clinic and on JW Pepper’s Editors’ Choice List, and published through various outlets including within Mel Bay Publications’ Mastering the Violin: A Comprehensive Study for the Adult Learner.
Morgan holds a Master’s degree in music composition from the University of Miami and a Bachelor’s degree in music composition from the University of Colorado-Boulder. Currently based in South Florida, she freelances and is Production Editor for MakeMusic Publications at Alfred Music.
