TidBits
Every wonder what goes into bringing all the musicians on for a concert? Here is a tiny peek into the window of what goes on behind the scenes.

One Year ahead:
  • Planning begins for the Fall, Spring and Summer concerts

6 weeks before the first rehearsal:
  • Rehearsal schedule is drafted
  • Signups occur (open 10-14 days)
  • String parts start to get bowed
  • On the last day of the signup, the DRAFT seating/assignments are completed and sent to section leads for approval

5 weeks before first rehearsal:
  • Seating is finalized
  • Waitlist and recruiting for musicians to fill gaps
  • Section leads approve seating/assignments

4 weeks before the first rehearsal:
  • Recruitment to fill gaps continues
  • Folders start to be filled after a massive copy-a-thon

2 weeks before the first rehearsal:
  • Completed folders are made available to all musicians to review and practice before the first rehearsal.

Reminder: If you need to drop, please return the music to the box on Vicki's porch within 24 hours. This ensures music can be promptly reassigned to waitlisted musicians. When folders are given to other players, this delays being able to give them to the next musician on the waitlist.
