Oliver Chen is a passionate pianist, student of Dr. Alex McDonald, and rising senior at Plano East Senior High. Beginning piano at the age of 5 with Oklahoma-based Terri Hlubeck, Oliver has competed in many local and state competitions, such as TMTA and Dallas Piano Solo. His most recent competition was the International Keyboard Odyssiad, where he won Gold Medalist in the Single Movement Concerto division.
Outside of piano, Oliver is a dedicated student and music enthusiast, and he enjoys serving his community as the founder of the nonprofit Glee Kids Troupe. He also loves playing video games, listening to music, and eating all kinds of good food. Currently, Oliver is working towards his Medical Assisting certification through his school’s Health Science Academy program, and he hopes to become a pathologist. Despite not pursuing a musical career, Oliver will never stop playing the piano.
